Our History

Founded in 2013 by internationally recognized dancer and educator Maximo Califano, Ballet San Jose School (formerly Bay Ballet Academy) was established to cultivate excellence in ballet training. Maximo’s vision for the school is rooted in simplicity, expressive movement, and joyful energy. He brings over two decades of experience as a performer, choreographer, and teacher to his students.

Maximo graduated from the prestigious Superior Institute of Art at the Colón Theater in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has taught at respected ballet schools across the globe and remains passionate about sharing his love of dance and movement with the community of San Jose. Ballet San Jose School represents his commitment to building a space where dancers of all levels can flourish, whether they are pursuing ballet classes for kids, ballet classes for adults, or simply looking for high-quality dance instruction in a professional and welcoming setting.
